Lindsay and Brett met on the first day of residency; within minutes it was clear there was a spark. Training pulled them in different directions initially, but within a few short weeks they came back into each other’s lives. From that moment on, it was obvious this was something entirely different. When Lindsay was seen at the driving range, it was a clear indication that this was love.

Over the past 5 years, they’ve begun to build a life together and a family together with their two munchkin cats, Pinot (AKA Weenie) and Gimli. They’ve traveled the world side by side and weathered some of life’s toughest challenges, all while balancing the chaos of residency. From the 3 am emergent surgeries to the endless overnight phone calls, they’ve reestablished a challenged sense of normalcy and have ensured to carve time out for their relationship. The hospital dinners are much better with great company.

They were engaged in the beginning of this year. It was the shining light in an extremely difficult time. The ability to grow closer through hardship has come to define their relationship, turning challenges into opportunities for deeper love and resilience. Along the way, their families have also grown close sharing in celebrations, supporting one another, and even bonding over college football (with Lindsay’s dad ensuring Brett knows where his loyalty should lie: Go Dawgs!). Through it all, they’ve discovered that no matter the chaos around them, the greatest comfort is simply being together.

Next year, after the wedding, they’ll begin a new chapter together in Philadelphia as Brett starts his fellowship in Urologic Oncology and Lindsay embarks on her career as a Vascular Surgeon. They’re excited for what’s ahead, grateful for where they’ve been, and can’t wait to celebrate the start of their forever with you.
